Mississippi - Current Level
These maps will show how sea level rise at various levels would affect the state. Tsunamis also occur in the Gulf of Mexico. In 1991, an earthquake in Costa Rica caused a 6 foot tsunami to wash inland though the Caribbean. A collapse of the Cumbra Vieja in the Canary Islands would also impact the Gulf. And there is always the possibility of localized landslides or underwater activity such as underwater volcanoes that could create large waves. The chances are much greater for flooding from storm surges caused by hurricanes but the chance is there.
