Mexico - 7,500 feet
There
are now three major island clusters making up New Mexico. North of Interstate
40 is the largest land mass which is made up of the Santa Fe and Carson
National Forests. South of I40 and west of I25 is the second largest made
up of parts of the Gila and Cibola National Forests and the areas surrounding
the town of Thoreau. The smallest cluster is near the southern border
of the state and contains the areas of Cloudcroft and Ruidoso.
